wikipedia blackout?

I am sure that for those of you whose life depends heavily on wikipedia will be totally paralyzed by the wikipedia blackout (decapitated?). Indeed as student, I have been consulting wikipedia (or google) whenever I am in doubt of something or whenever I need some quick facts. Well, indeed wikipedia is very useful although we cannot really believe in wikipedia 100% but still..

Based on my observation for several years, I've gotten used to searching an information on the internet and it is (indeed) very practical. However, I actually think that it degrades my ability to think and process information, in particular critical thinking. It reaches the point where I really believe that my ability to remember something has weakened as well (some very easy facts, even like mass of neutron or electron).

Lately, I've been forcing myself to think and try to remember the answer before I consult google or wikipedia. It usually works (quite well in most cases). When it doesn't work, I am at least satisfied that I've put some effort into it and am ready to relearn what I've missed.

So, wikipedia blackout is in some sense good. It's like a wakeup call to those that are so get used to it (like me)..

But anyway, you know, you can never beat the internet community, long live facebook! If you're really in need of wikipedia, use this link...

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/

Oh well, sorry wikipedia.....

[Update]: Not sure if they are really serious with the global protest, but apparently (just knew it from fb, long live free information!) if you are fast enough to press the "escape" button on your keyboard before the warning loads, you can actually use the wikipedia. wtf?!
