Just had a 20 minutes call with my sister this morning and she told me a very sad news concerning my aunty (my mother's sister..). She is in Taiwan, in a coma state and it seems that she is just waiting for the time and we are told to prepare for any news to come.. She has no family other than us as she is divorced.. The very sad thing is that she tried to keep the fact from my mother that she is suffering from liver failure. From what I was told, she told my mother that she was food-poisoned. Despite the fact that she is very sick, she kept working, I don't know why. I guess she was trying to make some money for her old days.
My relationship with my aunty is very close. When I was small, when there was so little place to visit in my hometown, I always went to her house every Sunday with my mother and sometimes my father, spending my whole SUnday there.. I always like to eat the food she cooked. She was not married at that time and so she lived in a house alone, but most of the time she rented some of the rooms to students to stay and so she is accompanied by the.
She was quite courageous also, there was once, a thief broke into her house, and when my aunty found out that someone was in her house. She directly took a meat knife, ran and chased the thief. The thief was very surprised and in the end he ran away. I'm not sure if the thief successfully took something from her house.
So, I remember during the time when my paternal grandmother passed away (incidentally she's the only grandparent I ever have, my paternal grandfather and my maternal grandparents passed away before I was even born). I was very small, first year of primary school.. At that time, I didn't understand what was happening, my brother and my sister started to cry and the mood around me changed completely. I being a small kid, not understanding what was happening, started to cry because I had never seen my brother and my sister cried this hard. I am pretty sure that I was aware that my grandmother passed away, but since I didn't have a very close relationship with my grandmother, I could feel nothing at that time. My mother and my father were very busy with the preparation and so at the day itself my aunty came and picked me up and I stayed in her house that day and for the next one week. It was at that night, after some conversation with my aunty, I started to feel really sad. Although I should admit our relationship was not very close, she is my grandmother and I stayed with her since I was born anyway. It is also my very first experience of losing a member of my family. Now, I am afraid that this feeling will return back to me.
And after a couple of years, she decided to go to Taiwan to work there as a nurse(If I am not wrong). She worked in taiwan for a couple of years and she found a widower that owns a small grape farm that she wanted to get married with. And so she got married and they lived together for a number of years. But then they were "divorced" in the end. The story was quite sad, her husband got a stroke disease and so he was paralyzed completely. As his children(from his first wife) is afraid that my aunty will inherit his money and state, they started making story of how she was very cruel and bla bla.. In the end, she was kicked out (literally "out" from the house) from the house without her belonging, even her passport, birth certificate and some of her jewels. It was very sad to think that they betrayed her like that. Okay, I know that I only heard this story and I have never actually seen the real one, but I believe in my aunty and so I believe in her story. It turned out that she started to develop a liver disease during the time when she lived with her husband because she worked too hard in the grape farm. Sigh...
So, coming back to Indonesia, it was very obvious from what my mom told me that she was developing a very serious liver damage. She was quite "yellow" at that time. But then, my mom told me that she didn't really care about this sickness. And so she returned to Taiwan, this time to work again. She tried again to earn some money (because her ex husband family didn't return her money) for her old days. And suddenly now she found herself on the hospital bed.... As I told you before, she tried to deceive my mother by telling that she was food poisoned. In the end, when she losses her consciousness, her friend phoned back to Indonesia to explain the truth and the fact that her liver has been almost completely failed.
Sigh again... this is very sad, she is a very kind aunty and yet she is now lying on the hospital bed alone in Taiwan without anyone to accompany her. She has to worked so hard to be a wife and yet she had to endure such suffering by being kicked out from her own family. As soon as my mother finishes her visa formalities, she will be able to fly to Taiwan with my other aunties and uncle.
However I wish that she will be able to regain her consciousness and her health. But whatever that will happen, I would like to thank her for everything that she has done to me and to my family, her kindness. I hope that she will be able live peacefully for the rest of her life.

I would dedicate this song "Metta" to everyone and especially to my aunty. I hope that she can be relieved from the suffering.
